If there’s anyone who hates travelling by train then they don’t
belong to this planet. :P
Trains make travelling easy also cutting down on travelling
expenses. (Special thanks to SETC no
doubt :P ) When you travel by lying down
in a train , it’s as though lying on a mother’s lap and listening to a
lullaby. Bliss!
A journey by train
gives you an opportunity to interact with people from diverse
backgrounds , letting you taste a slice of their life. I’ve known many people
who met in a train journey and continued to become good friends.
As a child , I was obsessed with trains. Every morning , I use
to dwell on the sight of the railway station from the two tier bridge at my
hometown , followed by which I’d play by
climbing on the coaches parked there. The memory is so vivid , as though it
happened yesterday.
I now travel in the very coaches I’ve played by climbing
over , only to see I don’t hold as much adoration as before , as i'm plagued down by various thoughts. Let me describe one such incident to you.
It so happened that I had to take a sudden trip to Erode. On
a Saturday morning at 6.10 , I attempted
to get inside the unreserved compartment , but was unsuccessful due to the very
coach being crowded. So I got into a reserved compartment and stood near the door.
The train got off to a start at the right time , with a
resounding honk. With the cool breeze blowing across your face and a steaming
cup of coffee in one hand , I couldn’t ask for more. All of a sudden , A man near
me got a seizure. Few of us tried to steady him only to find out he was drunk
and disoriented as a result. We managed to bring him to a stable state and
seated him in a corner.
I’ve never seen someone so drunk that early in the morning.
He stood up and started rambling.
‘’I’m going to a political gathering in Erode. My leader
would be the next chief minister. Blah blah blah” He kept going on and on non
stop and my patience was getting thinner by every second. He then noticed
stains on his white shirt caused by his stumble and he started to tear his
shirt off. Attempts to stop him only become futile He then started pleading
with the people around him to buy him a new white shirt. Somebody gave him a
shirt from their bag. Yet that didn’t make him stop his gibberish , which got me thinking.
Surely he couldn’t have undertaken this journey alone? That’s right. The leader
whom he spoke of , was sitting along with his entourage only nearby ,
indifferent to the Drunken man’s behavior.
The callous disregard with which the man treated his party
worker was questionable but doing so wouldn’t do any good. The party worker is the one to be blamed , as
it was evident that he had more commitment to the party and his leader than to
his very own family. And he wasn’t in any state to understand the reality of
things. He only cared about the party he works for, even in that
black out drunken stupor. Its
unfortunate that his leader wouldn’t return the favor. Hail the political
parties!!
I don’t wanna criticize any political party. To Criticize is
quite easy , but We should take a look at ourselves before starting the blame
game. We vote for the people who would rule us. So if there’s not a single
capable leader that means we have been choosing the wrong ones.
I place my faith in the youth of our generation that they
wouldn’t repeat a mistake this once , eagely awaiting the outcome . Change is
the only constant . Let us pave the way for our progressive future .
